Web Design Portfolio
For more than twenty-five years Apexweb has been designing and building websites from our base in Swanage, Dorset. Our portfolio is a selection of that work: holiday cottages and caravan parks, online shops, artists and photographers, accountants and other local businesses, charities and community groups, and companies as far afield as the United States and Cyprus.
Start with the case studies. These are the projects we have written up in detail, each marked with a Case study label: the problem the client came to us with, what we designed and built, and how the website has worked for them since. They range from Virtual Swanage, the town guide that has been online since 1996, to the ecommerce website for landscape photographer Andy Farrer and the searchable adoption site for Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue.
Below the case studies you will find our earlier projects, listed with the year they were built and a link to the website where it is still online. Our websites run on our own Atlas CMS, so clients can edit their pages, news and products themselves, and we can also provide the photography, hosting and support that go with them.

Accommodation
Holiday accommodation lives or dies on its photography and its availability information, so that is where we start. We have built websites for self-catering cottages, bed and breakfasts, guest houses, a hotel and caravan parks in Swanage, Purbeck and beyond, often photographing the rooms ourselves. Each site runs on our Atlas CMS, so owners can update their pages, prices and news without a developer. See how we approached it for Ulwell Farm Caravan Park, Compass Cottage and Swanage Cottages.
Ecommerce
An online shop has to do more than display products: it has to calculate postage, take payment and keep stock accurate. Our ecommerce websites are built around the way each business actually trades, from heavy garden machinery priced for delivery by weight and postcode to electronics sold worldwide, with no monthly plan fees. The case studies show how we did it for Titan Pro, AB Electronics, Whizzbits and Andy Farrer.
Art and Photographic
For an artist, photographer or musician the website is the gallery, and the work has to look right on every screen. We have built sites for photographers, a textile artist, a harpist and other artists and makers, some simple galleries and some with prints, workshops and online shops. Our case studies show the range: Andy Farrer sells prints and runs workshops from his website, while Diane Roberts has a new gallery for her textile art, with online sales planned.
International
Not every client is local. We have built websites for companies in the United States, Cyprus and France, and for the UK arms of larger international brands. The biggest of these, for Waeco UK, part of a multinational mobile-living group, combined a bespoke online shop with a system for customers to request servicing and warranty repairs. These projects were built between 2005 and 2011, and Waeco’s site has since been absorbed into its parent company’s global website.

Small Business and Public
This is our largest section and the one closest to our everyday work: websites for small and medium-sized businesses, professional firms and public-sector organisations. It includes accountants, a virtual PA service, a self-storage business, builders, cafes, a stone merchant, a care home and NHS and ambulance-service training. The case studies show how we redesigned the website for accountants HardingRedmans, launched a new local business with Swanage Storage Solutions and built the website for virtual PA service JAC Business Services.
Non-Profit
Community organisations and individuals need websites that are easy for volunteers and enthusiasts to run. This section includes our oldest project, Virtual Swanage, online since 1996, the national dog-rescue site Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue, the Swanage Blues festival and a personal project blog that has been publishing for twenty years, alongside a rowing club and community group.
