The Challenge

Whizzbits is an established computer support and repair business in Swanage, serving home users and small businesses across Dorset, either on site or remotely. As well as repairs, the business sells computers, components and accessories.

In 2010 the owners wanted a website that would do two jobs: explain their support and repair services to local customers, and let people buy parts and accessories online.

Our Approach

We designed a clean, practical website with simple navigation, reflecting the business’s straightforward, approachable style. It brings the services and the shop together so that customers can quickly find either. Behind it we built a bespoke ecommerce system on our Atlas CMS, giving the owners a single web-based place to:

add new products and update their descriptions
process orders
track stock levels

The services themselves are set out plainly: PC and laptop sales, support and repair, virus and malware removal, broadband and wireless set-up, network troubleshooting, data backup and recovery, and one-to-one tuition.

The Results

Whizzbits had a website that worked for the whole business. Customers could see what was on offer and buy online, and the owners could run the shop through the same system they used to edit the rest of the site. Selling online meant the business was no longer limited to customers who could walk into Swanage.

Long-Term Impact

Building the shop into the CMS meant the owners stayed in control of their own products and pages, with no need to call a developer for routine changes. It is a good fit for any local business that wants to sell online without the complexity of a large ecommerce platform.
